I am a Family Physician with a strong interest in Neuroscience--the science of the brain, especially the interface between food and brain function. This blog is dedicated to providing information about a new disease entity--Carbohydrate Associated Reversible Brain syndrome or CARB syndrome. This disease process seems to account for the increased incidence in many brain disorders over the past few decades, including autism, ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder II, eating disorders, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, restless leg syndrome, PTSD and various anxiety disorders. The CARB syndrome model also connects these conditions to obesity, metabolic syndrome and type II diabetes.
