As an educational practitioner, I have worked with diverse populations – general and special education and middle and lower socioeconomic status. I have had the opportunity to become actively involved with all, thus, enabling me to evolve into a servant leader. My experiences as a child of poverty, educational practitioner, and mother of two African American sons, lead me to believe that “Education is still the greater equalizer”. It is my responsibility as a Christian, African American Woman from Poverty, Wife, Sister, Mother, and Educational Practitioner to guide us to continue the scholarly discourse and to search for opportunities to break the cycle of poverty through education. It is my hope that my posts will inspire others to reflect, discuss, and act.
