Jaime Alexander Caballero, M.D., FACC, FSCAI, is an interventional cardiologist based in Tampa, Florida, with extensive experience in coronary interventions, structural heart disease, and endovascular therapies. He is the founder of Tampa Heart and Vascular Associates, an independent physician-led practice committed to comprehensive cardiovascular care and advanced procedural treatment. He also serves as Collaborative Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the University of South Florida and maintains clinical privileges at Tampa General Hospital. Dr. Jaime Caballero was born and raised in Colombia, where he developed an early interest in science and academic competition. In 1994, he achieved national recognition by winning the Colombian Secondary School Mathematics and Physics Olympics in Bogota. His academic achievements encouraged him to pursue a career in medicine. He later enrolled at the University of Tolima School of Medicine and completed his Medical Doctor degree in 2006. During his medical education, he gained clinical experience at several leading institutions and received the Best Intern of the Year award from Hospital Fundación Santafé de Bogota. After graduating, he pursued additional training in emergency and trauma medicine. His postgraduate preparation included Advanced Trauma Life Support at the University de La Salle in Bogota and specialized instruction in emergency airway management at the University of Rosario. In 2009, Dr. Caballero relocated to the United States to continue his medical training. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Saint Raphael Campus, in New Haven, Connecticut. While at Yale, he received multiple distinctions recognizing academic achievement and professional conduct, including the Professionalism Award and the Reach Excellence Award. Following residency, he completed advanced fellowship training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. There, he pursued fellowships in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology, gaining extensive experience in catheter-based procedures and complex cardiovascular therapies. Since beginning his career in interventional cardiology in 2016, Jaime Caballero, MD, has focused on treating complex coronary and structural heart conditions while also contributing to physician education, research initiatives, and the development of modern cardiovascular treatment strategies.
