dustedoff

Hi. My name is Madhulika Liddle, and I’m a writer. Yes, the writer of this blog (which is mostly devoted to old cinema—both Indian as well as from abroad, all from before the 1970s), but also writer of other things. I am a novelist and a short story, and I do a good bit of writing on non-fiction as well, including travel, food, and cinema (of course). I write in a range of genres, all the way from historical to detective to romance, humour, and ‘social’ literature. Most people know me as the creator of Muzaffar Jang, a 17th century Mughal detective in the time of Shahjahan’s reign in Delhi. Muzaffar Jang appears in four books: The Englishman’s Cameo, The Eighth Guest & Other Muzaffar Jang Mysteries, Engraved in Stone, and Crimson City. The adaptation rights of the entire series have recently been bought by a studio, so Muzaffar Jang will hopefully be appearing on the screen soon. Besides the Muzaffar Jang books, I’ve also written My Lawfully Wedded Husband and Other Stories (a collection of black humour, in which all the stories have a twist in the tale and are, to some extent or the other, funny in a distorted way) and Woman to Woman: Stories, a selection of women-centric stories. Under the pseudonym Lynn Bishop, I’ve also written Put Asunder, a Regency romance which is the first of a set of historical romance novels titled War Brides.
