Course: MA Media Studies (Broadcast) Favorite Book: Cities by Carla de Guzman This is about a couple Celia and Ben who experience alternate realities in various cities around the world. It explores the idea of a multiverse and the probable answers to "what if?" This book has been a long read for me because of the emotional roller coaster ride I had to go through each chapter (or each city). It helped me understand the intricate and complicated nature of relationships ranging from friends to lovers. Favorite Film: Freedom Writers "Freedom Writers," released in 2007, is my favorite film of all time because it was one of the first films that opened my eyes to the reality of inequalities in the world. The narrative made me think about how culture, politics, systems, and other apparatuses affect how people are treated. Even if 12 years have passed since its first release, the film still reflects the same problems involving inequalities and power struggles among races and nations. Favorite media practitioner: Ricky Lee Ricky Lee is someone I have looked up to since I was a child after I found out that he wrote the screenplay for Dyesebel. As a kid, I was deeply fascinated with mermaids but when I interned at ABS-CBN, I found that he was a great storyteller. After experiencing a workshop that he has lead, it created this spark inside of me to improve the way I tell stories, whatever medium I use. Favorite song: Oceans by Hillsong United This is a Christian worship song that I can always listen to during times of stress, sadness, confusion, and happiness. "Oceans" also reminds me of my faith as well as to always have hope for humanity. Favorite internet site: Deviantart (deviantart.com) "Deviantart" is a website that serves as a social community for artists and art enthusiasts. It showcases many different types of art from any user who wishes to upload their works. Favorite meal: Lumpiang gulay, ginisang monggo, and white rice This meal is how I learned to eat vegetables as a child. Having hot mushy monggo poured over rice, accompanied by the crunch and savory goodness of the lumpiang gulay gives me a sense of happiness that I have experienced in my childhood. Hobbies: Drawing, painting, sewing, reading fiction, and writing narratives
