He began his studies in Computer Science but later discovered his passion for applied electronics and electrical systems, leading him to pursue Electrical Engineering Technology. Through determination and hard work, he earned his Bachelor of Science from The University of Toledo in 2015 while balancing his coursework with part-time jobs. After graduation, Michael Victor Gastinel began his professional career at Troy Energy, LLC in Ohio as a Combustion Turbine Specialist. His work included turbine operations, instrumentation management, calibration, troubleshooting, and emissions data oversight. In 2022, he returned to Texas and joined Luminant Generation Company, LLC, initially working at the Forney Plant before transferring to the DeCordova Power Plant in his hometown. His experience with GE 7FA turbines allowed him to quickly adapt to the GE 7EA platform, while his knowledge of GE Mark VI and Emerson Ovation systems enhanced operational consistency. His work included turbine operation, DCS troubleshooting, and managing battery energy storage systems. As the plant’s Behavior-Based Safety Champion, he supported safety awareness and encouraged a proactive approach to teamwork and communication. Outside work, he enjoys cars, electronics, fitness, golf, and time with family. A lifelong car enthusiast, he maintains his own vehicles and enjoys learning about emerging automotive technologies. His Catholic faith remains a strong influence, and he continues contributing to his church and local community.
